Elon Musk Claims He Was "Tricked" into Puberty Blockers for Child, Vows to Combat "Woke Mind Virus"

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, recently opened up about feeling "tricked" into permitting his child to begin puberty blockers during an interview with psychologist Jordan Peterson on X (formerly Twitter). This revelation came amidst discussions about Musk’s decision to move SpaceX's headquarters from California to Texas following new legislation in California.

The controversial Assembly Bill 1955, signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom on July 15, 2024, allows schools to withhold information about a child's sexual orientation or gender identity from their parents. Musk cited this law as a key factor in his decision to relocate SpaceX.

During the interview, Musk recounted his personal experience with his child, Xavier, who now identifies as transgender and goes by the name Vivian Jenna Wilson. Musk expressed his deep concern, stating, "It’s evil. You’re taking kids who are far below the age of consent. It’s very possible for adults to manipulate children who are having an actual identity crisis into believing that they are the wrong gender.” Musk explained that during the confusion of the COVID-19 pandemic, he was misled into signing documents for Xavier to receive puberty blockers without a full understanding of what was happening.

Peterson argued that claims of higher suicide rates among transgender youth, often used to justify such treatments, were based more on underlying issues of depression and anxiety rather than gender dysphoria. He criticized clinicians for not speaking out against these practices.

Musk further criticized puberty blockers, describing them as "sterilization drugs" and lamented the loss of his son Xavier to what he called the "woke mind virus." He vowed to combat this ideology.

A preprint study by the Mayo Clinic has linked puberty blockers to irreversible long-term fertility issues in boys, challenging earlier claims about their reversibility. According to the Mayo Clinic, these drugs are intended to pause puberty in transgender and gender-diverse youth by halting the production of sex hormones.

Vivian Musk publicly came out as transgender in June 2022 at the age of 18 and legally changed her name, expressing a desire to sever ties with her father.

Musk's decision to relocate SpaceX and X headquarters from California to Texas was also influenced by California's new law. He had previously warned Governor Newsom that he would move his company if the bill was signed into law, emphasizing that this decision was not made impulsively.
