Manchester United Eye Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah Amidst Summer Transfer Speculations
Manchester United have expressed interest in Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, potentially setting the stage for a summer transfer away from Stamford Bridge for the 25-year-old.
Chalobah, reportedly "disappointed" after being omitted from Chelsea’s pre-season tour in the USA, is considering his options. Journalist Ben Jacobs revealed to GIVEMESPORT, “Trevoh Chalobah is contracted to Chelsea until 2028, so he can be quite picky with his next club. He is naturally disappointed to have been excluded from Chelsea’s pre-season tour of America, but won’t exit unless the club is right.”
Having emerged from Chelsea’s youth academy, Chalobah has made 58 Premier League appearances since his debut in 2021. However, new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca does not prioritize retaining the defender, citing an overcrowded centre-back position due to recent signings and returning players from injury.
While Chelsea has yet to receive concrete offers for Chalobah, they are reportedly seeking a fee in the region of £25 million to £30 million. Jacobs noted, “Multiple Premier League clubs have enquired, including Manchester United, but Chelsea don’t have any offers yet.”
Manchester United, aiming to strengthen their defensive lineup following the departures of Raphael Varane and Willy Kwambala, see Chalobah as a versatile and cost-effective option. Capable of playing both centre-back and right-back, Chalobah could be a strategic acquisition for United compared to other targets like Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite.
Described as a “monster” by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig, Chalobah currently earns £50,000 per week at Chelsea. Despite his popularity among Chelsea fans, Maresca’s plans for the squad appear to differ, potentially paving the way for Chalobah’s exit.
In related developments, Manchester United are also reportedly in talks with Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui’s agent, continuing their pursuit of defensive reinforcements.
